I have 20 years of experience as a Professional Dancer, Teacher, Coach and Choreographer. Dance has been my life’s passion, especially in the encouragement of my students in experiencing the universal joy of dance. I was a “gypsy” in the professional dance world, dancing in concert performances, theatrical revues and touring with Broadway shows. I lived in New York City, the dance capitol of the world, and studied with the world’s best teachers.
I have been mentored in ballet by Madame Gabriella Darvash. “Madame” as she is known is featured in the book The Art of Teaching Ballet/Ten Twentieth Century Masters, having trained the best classical ballet dancers in the world. My other teachers were Michael Owens (who trained the best of Broadway and the dancers in the movie Chicago), Mia Michaels (of “So You Think You Can Dance”), Diana Laurenson (Fosse Repertory) and John Medeiros (Master Teacher and Choreographer) to name a few.
I have my Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Rutgers University and am a Certified Pilates and Fitness Instructor. In addition, I have served as the Dance Director and Choreographer for gymnastics programs that compete at the elite level. In 2008, I was appointed the Dance Clinician for the Junior Olympic National Team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
After twenty years of working as a Dancer, Teacher, Coach and Choreographer; what I am most proud of is that my students have received scholarships to college and gone on to professional dance careers. My goal as a teacher is to pay it forward with my students as they build their wings to “Take Flight” into their dreams.
